Clean Energy Solutions Index 2026

Deep support continues to remain highest for clean energy solutions Australians know and understand – particularly solar, which is seen as proven, accessible and beneficial.
In 2026, the economic case is increasingly central to that support: Australians show the deepest support for solutions that lower energy costs and strengthen Australia’s energy independence.
89 Degrees East is an Australian strategic communications and research agency. We help government, corporate and for-purpose organisations shape public opinion, influence policy and change behaviour — grounded in evidence, not guesswork.
We work across three connected disciplines. Our research and insights team runs the social research, polling and audience segmentation that tells us what people actually think. Our public affairs team turns that evidence into strategic communications, advocacy campaigns, stakeholder engagement and policy advice. And our digital and creative team delivers it — through content, social media strategy, campaigns and design.
Most agencies do one of these well. We do all three, which is why clients come to us when the challenge is complex and the stakes are public.
FAQs
About 89 Degrees East, our work, our clients and our point of difference.
89 Degrees East is an Australian data, strategy and delivery agency. We combine social research, strategic communications and public affairs to help organisations move public opinion, influence policy and change behaviour. Our work spans research and insights, advocacy and communications campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and digital and creative delivery - for government, corporate and for-purpose clients.
We're all three, integrated. Many agencies specialise in one discipline: public relations firms communicate, research houses produce data, and consultancies advise. 89 Degrees East brings social research, strategic communications and public affairs together under one roof, so strategy is grounded in evidence and delivered end-to-end. Clients come to us when a challenge is too complex or too public for a single-discipline agency.
Our services fall into three connected areas: data, research and insights (social research, polling, audience segmentation, sentiment tracking and data analysis); public affairs (strategic communications, advocacy campaigns, stakeholder engagement, reputation management, government relations and policy advice); and digital and creative (digital strategy, social media strategy, content, campaign delivery, branding and design). We also design and run large-scale programs from strategy through to delivery.
We work with government departments and agencies, ASX-listed and multinational companies, industry associations, and for-purpose and not-for-profit organisations. Our clients typically face challenges with a public dimension - policy change, social licence, reputation, behaviour change or community engagement - where evidence and strategic communications make the difference.
Evidence. We start with original social research that tells us what audiences genuinely think, then build strategy and campaigns on that foundation rather than on assumption. Combined with genuine public affairs and policy capability - which is far harder to replicate than digital execution - this is what lets us shift opinion, policy and behaviour, not just generate coverage.
Yes. Social research is at the core of what we do. We conduct quantitative and qualitative research, national polling, sentiment tracking and audience segmentation, and we use those findings to shape communications strategy, advocacy campaigns and policy advice. Research isn't a bolt-on for us - it's the foundation of effective strategy.
Yes. Strategic communications and advocacy are central to our public affairs practice. We develop communication strategies and plans, run issues-based and advocacy campaigns, manage media and stakeholder engagement, and provide policy and political advisory - all grounded in research evidence.
Yes. Our digital and creative team delivers digital strategy, social media strategy, content, community management and campaign delivery, alongside branding and design. As audiences and AI-driven search reshape how organisations are found, we help clients build authentic, consistent presence and genuine community across the channels that matter.
